A slim paperback from Hungary written by a young looking Haui Balazs Bogdan.

Within its pages are designs for some 25 different paper aeroplanes.

The writing is entirely in Hungarian which, for this reviewer, makes it impossible to pronounce or read. However, the diagrams are very clear and simple and use the Yoshizawa/Randlett system and are therefore easy to follow. There are a couple of minor mistakes in some of the drawings but with careful examination of the preceding and following steps one can successfully fold all of the planes.

The planes themselves range from old traditional ones you have known since you were knee high to a ream of A4, which is what most of the planes are folded from, to new designs by Haui and, I think, 2 others.

Obviously the test of a paper aeroplane is; does it fly?

Well…some of them do. Some fly very well indeed and, sadly, some of them do not. This is a great pity. It does not take a great deal of effort to discover if a plane flies or not. And, if it doesn’t fly, why include it?

That said, if you are interested in throwing bits of paper around, and I can heartily recommend it as an alternative to housework, this is a book that will provide a few hours of fun and will introduce you to some new designs and may even encourage you to improve upon the non-flyers. The origami world awaits your diagrams…
